A Dartford student revealed he was "over the moon" after wining a prestigious prize from the University of Greenwich.

Collen Maganga, of Lawson Gardens, who has just completed his degree in Wireless Mobile Communications Systems Engineering, received a special award for an outstanding final-year presentation earlier this month.

The presentations were made at a graduation ceremony for students from the university’s Faculty of Engineering and Science in the historic Rochester Cathedral attended by hundreds of graduands and presided over by the university’s vice-chancellor Professor David Maguire.

Mr Maganga, 42, said: "I am over the moon to have won such a prize, in addition to receiving my degree.

"The best thing about studying Engineering with the University of Greenwich was all the support that I had along the way. I am now considering continuing with my studies to Master’s level."

The university also awarded honorary degrees to Britain’s most successful javelin thrower Steve Backley MBE and to the Astronomer Royal  Lord Rees during the degree ceremonies.
