Plans to build a £380,000 skateboard facility in Charlton Park will be discussed at a council meeting next week.
Greenwich Council's cabinet are expected to agree to consult on the new sports facility which will take the place of a dilapidated skate park in Woolwich.
The current site in Royal Arsenal Gardens is rundown and set to be replaced by high-rise buildings as part of the Crossrail redevelopment. Skaters have instead been using the revamped General Gordon Square and hanging out beneath the A102 flyover.
A council report reveals that the nearby Barrier, Maryon and Hornfair Parks were all considered for the facility. But two possible sites are preferred in Charlton Park - one near the junction of Cemetery Lane and Charlton park Lane and one beside the children's play area.
Expected to be used by BMX riders and rollerbladers along with skaters, the concrete facility will feature "bowls, plazas and street-style elements", the report says.
Money for the project will come from Section 106 funds provided by Berkeley Homes.
