A Sidcup resident gave up work for the week to volunteer in a local charity shop.
Simon Dannaher, aged 41, who lives in Bexley Lane was offered five days leave from his job as a project manger with RBS to take on some charity work.
Mr Dannaher contacted the Red Cross in Alma Lane and arranged to spend five days working in the store.
He said: "I wanted any volunteer work to benefit my local area so I canvassed the different shops and when I met the manager, Linda, I was taken aback by her enthusiasm."
During his time with Red Cross Mr Dannaher canvassed Sidcup business about donating goods to be sold at a special event marking his last day at the store - the day raised around ﾣ300 for the charity.
The RBS worker added: ""We brainstormed a few ideas to do something a bit different. We discussed the Mary Portas programme about reinventing a charity shop and we thought we would contact local businesses to donate goods for this particular day.
"I posted leaflets through people's doors and put up posters to let people know it was happening - a lot of people turned up.
"I had a stall outside and we raised more than the shop normally would in a day."
