News Shopper: Crystal Palace Park is set for £2.4 million improvements. Crystal Palace Park is set for £2.4 million improvements.

The people of Bromley put forward their views on proposed £2.4 million improvements to Crystal Palace Park at the weekend.

The proposals were discussed at a consultation in the park's visitor centre on Saturday (June 21).

They involve improving the park's landscape, restoring or conserving its built heritage and improving infrastructure for visitors.

Priorities - identified with the help of the public - will be funded by the Mayor of London and Bromley Council.

Richard Blakeway, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Land, said: "We are working with Bromley Council to create a bright future for Crystal Palace and the mayor is determined to ensure it is a resource for the whole community.

"The council is inviting views on how to spend £2million of City Hall funds to deliver a series of improvements and to ensure they reflect local needs."

Leader of Bromley Council Stephen Carr said: "This underlines and demonstrates our serious and continued aims to improve this much loved park.

"We are hopeful that once the improvement list has been prioritised, work can go ahead fairly quickly but of course, this would be subject to final estimates and costs and other practical considerations.

"I would like to thank the volunteers and the community stakeholder group for giving their time to help park users understand what is being proposed."
