All Lewisham roads to get 20mph speed limit

News Shopper: All Lewisham roads to get 20mph speed limit All Lewisham roads to get 20mph speed limit

Lewisham's mayor has vowed to make all the council-controlled roads a 20mph zone.

Speaking at the council AGM, Sir Steve Bullock told newly-elected councillors: "We will build on the success of our 20mph zone programme by making the whole borough subject to a 20mph limit.

"To make that work we will need to change the mind set of drivers so that 20mph becomes the default speed.

"We will only succeed in doing this with the help of the police and the GLA."

Campaigner Clare Griffiths and the Green Party's Darren Johnson handed in a petition back in April calling for the mayor to introduce the 20mph zone, citing the example of nine other London boroughs which have the policy.

Elsewhere in his speech, Sir Steve called this term "the most challenging four years this council has faced for a very long time" with cuts of £95m on the way.

He went on to promise more affordable housing, increase school places to meet demand and lobbying for a Bakerloo Line extension to the borough.

So If this is policy, i can then travel at 30mph as I don't give any 'consent' to travel at 20 mph.

policy :a course of action adopted and pursued by a government, ruler, political party, etc.: our nation's foreign policy.

I don consent to be ruled by a government or by green mentalist's. The only law is common law and the queen protects all under the queen, she made a contract to protect it's people common law under god. No one can make any laws and be above god not even the government under 'policy'. FREEMAN rules. use it or lose it. We can't let these greenies dictate what we can do. They are mental and hold no power.

What with Zanzibar causing all sorts of problems in Sydenham, stabbings and young people dying, letting areas go into decline due to the lack of interest from Lewisham Council and Sir Steve wants a 20mph all throughout the borough. I'm glad he has got his priorities right as per usual. The 20mph was only for roads with schools along them.

Let's all tell bullock where to shove his 20 mph policies. If we are made to go any slower, we may as well st op paying Road tax as we will virtually be walking every where if he and his sock puppets have their way.

This is an absolute joke. We the drivers CANNOT drive more than 20mph anywhere in Lewisham anyway because there are speed humps in and on every road in Lewisham. Steve bullock wants to impose more humps, more CPZ (PERMIT PARKING) and now speed restrictions in the whole of the borough. Who is going to pay for all the wasted signs that will go up everywhere and who is going to police the new 20mph NO-ONE that's who.All this money should go on worthwhile projects like extra housing for one. Wake up Bullock...
