A 20-year-old Lewisham man has been arrested after the theft of three Blackheath championship bicycles worth £2,000 each sparked an online campaign to find the culprit.
The customised bikes were stolen from a garden shed in Lee Park, Blackheath, some time between May 8 and May 9.
Their owner, Vernon Thomas, aged 69, was to use one of the bikes to represent Great Britain in the World Championship Duathlon at the end of this month.
Following the theft, photos circulated online of one bike being ridden through Hither Green.
Ashley Moore, 20, of Marischal Road, Lewisham was charged yesterday (May 14) with handling stolen goods.
He has been bailed to appear at Bromley Magistrates' Court on May 29.
