A body has been found in a pond in woodland in Northfleet.
Kent Police were called to land off Thames Way at 11.30am yesterday.
Police are not treating it as suspicious and the person's next of kin have been informed.
Louise Shepherd, aged 33, who lives on Springhead Road which is adjacent to Thames Way said: "A body? I'd not heard anything about it but the only place I could think it would be is the reed pond down at the bottom.
"It's shocking that it's happened so close really."
The pond is situated in woodland just off Thames Way, close to Northfleet Sewerage Treatment Works.
