Apprentice star Margaret Mountford has unveiled a new urgent care centre at Erith Hospital.

Dr Mountford - who was Lord Sugar’s trusted advisor for the first five series of the show - officially opened the facility on December 4.

The unit, which is open from 8am to 10pm each day, is designed to complement the services already in place at the urgent care centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup, which is open 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

NHS Bexley Clinical Commissioning Group chair Dr Howard Stoate, who is also a GP, said: "Thousands of patients are set to benefit from a second urgent care centre in Bexley, which local people can access when they have an urgent but non-life threatening injury or illness, such as a suspect break, sprain, strain, cut, burn, bite or sting.

"This is a great new service, which will result in fewer patients, particularly in the north of the borough, attending an accident and emergency department outside of the borough."
