Sidcup is set to host an exciting dance event, showcased on a London bus.

The Big Dance Bus will visit Sidcup on September 6 - marking the progress of the In Store for Sidcup programme which has delivered a record reduction in the number of empty shops on the high street.

Professional dancers and local dance groups will take to the stage from noon to 4pm at the junction of Hadlow Road and Sidcup High Street, performing dances from ballet and tango to contemporary and waltz.

Free workshops will be on offer, so local residents can have a go at street dance, hula hoop and lindy hop to name but a few.

Bexley Council cabinet member for regeneration and growth Councillor Linda Bailey said: "This event promises to put Sidcup on the map.

"I’m looking forward to seeing the high street buzzing with activity and music.

"This is a brilliant way to showcase everything that Sidcup has to offer to the local community."

More activities will take place throughout Sidcup High Street, including live music and theatre performances, stilt walkers, face painting and t-shirt printing.
