An online petition is calling for action to make a road in Honor Oak safer after an accident involving an 18-year-old motorcyclist.

Residents in Stondon Park have started an online petition, citing four recent major car accidents and 12 damaged vehicles.

The petition warns: "On July 22 a car had a head on collision with another on Stondon Park before mounting the curb and smashing through a residential wall.  Had a pedestrian been there they would have been killed."

Lewisham Greens have also thrown their weight behind the petition.

Party safer streets spokeswoman Clare Phipps said: "Residents of Stondon Park and Lewisham as a whole deserve to be able to walk to the shops, cycle to work and take their children to school without fearing their journey will end in hospital or worse."
