Kent’s best young musicians will get the chance to perform with an internationally acclaimed classical music star.

Kent County Youth Orchestra’s Summer Concert on August 30 will feature violinist Chloe Hanslip.

Chloe was a child prodigy who began playing the violin aged two and performed solo at the Purcell Room on the Southbank aged four.

By the age of ten she had performed in all of Europe’s major concert halls. At 13, she became the youngest artist signed to Warner Classics UK and recorded an album with the London Symphony Orchestra.

Now 26, she had internationally recognised and celebrated.

Kent Music’s chief executive Peter Bolton said: “We are delighted to welcome one of classical music’s finest young talents to Kent to work with us, providing inspiration and knowhow to the next generation of young musicians.

“In only five days, the orchestra works on repertoire from scratch and performs in concert to the most exacting of standards. This challenging, stimulating and enjoyable musical environment has produced some of Britain's finest professional musicians.”

The concert, at Mote Hall in Maidstone on August 30, will feature a programme of popular classics with the theme East meets West, conducted for the first time by George Jackson.

A masterclass will also be held at Ashford School on August 29.

Tickets cost £16.50, £14.50 or £6.50 – or £20.50, £18.50 or £10.50 with the masterclass - at thegulbenkian.co.uk or on 01227 769075.
