Woolwich Marks & Spencer will definitely close its door in September, the company has confirmed.
News Shopper revealed last month that consultation was underway on shutting the Powis Street outlet shop, part of a business restructuring programme.
Now the company has confirmed the store will close for good on September 27, with its 53 employees deployed elsewhere.
In Lewisham, the high street branch will close its outlet floor on the same day, though its lower floor will remain.
A spokesman said: "These are difficult decisions that we’ve not made lightly. However, we believe it is necessary to close the store in Woolwich and the outlet sales floor in Lewisham to help maintain a strong outlet business that delivers great value for our customers.
"We hope our customers in Woolwich will continue to shop with us at mandsoutlet.com, at near-by M&S stores and at the new, large M&S store which opens in Charlton next year."
