Dartford and Gravesend are to benefit from millions of pounds of funding for new transport schemes.
The Government announced on Monday (July 7) the South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SE LEP) won a £442 million funding package to boost economic growth across Kent, east Sussex, Essex, Medway, Southend and Thurrock.
The projects will focus on bringing in new jobs and homes as well easing traffic and improving connectivity.
The deal will see around £84 million invested in the SELEP area next year, supporting the delivery of up to 35,000 jobs and 18,000 new homes.
One project includes the realigning of Rathmore Road, Gravesend, to ease congestion and improve connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists.
Another scheme is also planned to support the Thames Gateway and Ebbsfleet Garden City developments through improved accessibility and an integrated transport network.
Chairman of SE LEP Peter Jones said : "This initial funding is tremendously good news for our businesses and residents - addressing years of under-investment in the south east’s transport network."
