News Shopper: Three fire crews called to Waste4Fuel in St Paul's Cray Three fire crews called to Waste4Fuel in St Paul's Cray

Fire crews from Siducup, Orpington and Erith have spent over 12 hours at Waste4Fuel in St Paul's Cray fighting a blaze.

Four fire crews were called to the plant in Cornwall Drive at 1.30am on Monday- the site has a history of constant blazes.

Fire fighters are working with an on site team, using a mechanical digger to turn over the rubbish and apply water to the fire.

Mick McGurran, station manager at Sidcup told News Shopper: "The site is in our area but technically in the London borough of Bromley.

"We shared this shout with Orpington and have been going back every three hours in our own time to make sure the site is safe.

"We were there for over 12 hours for this latest shout and it's such a regular thing.

"Erith fire station has a car at the moment so they have been going back as well the check.

"This one was quite a bad one."

Welcome to Groundhog Day.

I wonder how everyone is getting on at the High Court, what with the EA injunction and Bromley Council working it's little socks off to keep the rate-payers safe.

No sign of Bob Neil MP saying or doing anything ? People would think he is not bothered about the 2015 election - almost as if he was going to the Lords or retiring !

Will someone please do something about this site !

I feel sorry for the poor residents who live next to this dreadful site. i think they should all protest by parking their cars in front of the gates blocking any access.

Here we go again. Having heard nothing for a while (I now check every part of the News Shopper for a weekly update on this ), I tried searching for info earlier.. without success. Suddenly this appears..... when will it end? I think the answer may be never because people in authority don't give a toss !!!!

What about the School Children at Kemnal and the junior school near Homebase. My sons go to Kemnal and they have has to stay indoors due to the awful smell from the fires. We can even smell the awful smell when on fire from near Ruxley R/about area where we live. They say the fire/smoke is not a health risk but they need to prove this before we believe them (re: asbestos being a good example). We will put pressure on Bexley Council to contact Bromley Council. Really feel for the residents so close-by and the surrounding area but also the continuous delays at Critalls R/about when the fire brigade are called.
