Thousands of Bromley parents could receive up to £2,000 as a major new childcare package is announced.
Yesterday (March 18) plans were unveiled set to help nearly 10,000 mums and dads in the borough to ease costs.
Liberal Democrat council group leader Tom Papworth said working families will be given the additional cash as part of a scheme to be rolled out in autumn 2015.
He said the “news provides a huge boost to hardworking families" in the borough, and added: “I used to work at the Bromley-based National Childminding Association so I know the importance of quality early years provision.
“The Liberal Democrats are committed to building a stronger economy and a fairer society and this helps children get off to the best start in life.”
It comes as the government reveals plans to provide 20 per cent support on childcare costs up to £10,000 a year for each child.
While it has also said people on Universal Credit are in line to get 85 per cent of costs involved in caring for youngsters fully covered.
