Trial of Swanley woman Dawn Chedd charged with Bluewater car park death delayed

THE trial of a Swanley woman accused of causing the death of a shopper at Bluewater has been delayed until May 22.

Dawn Chedd, of Cranleigh Drive, is charged with causing the death of 71-year-old Claire Bishop by careless or inconsiderate driving.

The trial of the 50-year-old, who denies the charge, was meant to start on Tuesday (March 19) but has been moved over issues with the availability of witnesses.

Ambulance crews found Mrs Bishop, of Romney Gardens, Bexleyheath, trapped under the wheels of a silver Vauxhall Zafira in level one of the blue car park at the Greenhithe shopping centre at around 3pm on January 4 last year.

Mrs Bishop was rushed to the specialist major trauma unit at Kings College Hospital in Denmark Hill with head, chest and abdominal injuries and died five days later.
