Seventy Gravesend fundraisers enjoy three-hour aerobathon
9:07am Thursday 21st March 2013 in News By Alan Woods
THE Mayor of Gravesham demonstrated her exceptional hula-hooping skills as she got involved in a charity Aerobathon.
Councillor Lyn Milner was on hand to declare the three-hour Aerobathon at the Cygnet Leisure Centre, in Old Perry Street, open on Sunday (MAR 17).
She showcased her hidden talent when she tried her hand at power hooping, a type of workout which uses a weighted hula-hoop to burn calories.
More than 70 fundraisers got involved in aerobics, hydro power sessions, a sponsored swim, pilates and Bowka in a bid to raise cash for the British Heart Foundation.
Sales and marketing manager Lisa Hankinson said: “The mayor got into the spirit of the event by treating everyone to a great demonstration of power hooping and lots of fun was had in the swimming pool, working-out to Gangnam Style.”
The event raised £460 in cash on the day but more is due to be collected in sponsorship money.
