Four adults were saved from a Bromley shop fire which is believed to have been “started deliberately”.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended the shop on Beckenham Lane, which had flats located above it.
Fire crews from Bromley, Beckenham, and Woodside used an extension ladder to rescue four people from a first-floor balcony.
The fire destroyed significant amount of rubbish at the back of the property as well as some of the ground floor.
The fire began at 12.19am and was brought under control by 1.29am.
The firefighters managed to evacuate everyone safely, with no reported injuries from the incident.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a shop with flats above on Beckenham Lane in Bromley.
“A large amount of rubbish at the rear of the property was destroyed by fire, and the ground floor was partially damaged by the blaze.
“Four adults were led to safety by firefighters from the first-floor balcony, assisted by a short extension ladder.
“There were no injuries.
“The Brigade was called at 0019 and the fire was under control by 0129.
“Crews from Bromley, Beckenham and Woodside fire stations attended the scene.
“The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.”
