A Metropolitan Police officer from Dartford who was convicted of sexually abusing a young girl has been named after previously being granted anonymity.
PC Alex Law, 43, admitted two counts of indecent assault on a girl who was under the age of 10 in 1996.
Law, then 15, assaulted the young girl while she was out playing in the woods near Hexham in Northumberland.
He later got a job with the Met and his hideous past did not come to light until the victim came forward in December 2022.
On April 22 Law, of Cedar Drive, was jailed for two and a half years.
But three days later Law was allowed to remain anonymous at a Met Police misconduct hearing.
He has now been named and pictured thanks to The Journal paper in Newcastle, which spoke to the victim.
She told the paper she decided to come forward after seeing a photo of Law wearing the Met Police uniform.
Law was dismissed from the force without notice on April 25.
Met Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Cox said: “I am grateful to Northumbria Police for their investigation.
“He is now serving a prison sentence and has rightly been swiftly dismissed from the Met.
“We remain committed to ensuring those who are not fit to police are removed from the organisation.”
