Wedding season is fast approaching and south east London offers some stunning places to tie the knot in.
Whether you want to host the ultimate Bridgerton-themed wedding or get married at an award-winning 16th century gastropub there’s plenty of choice.
We’ve rounded up four of the best places we think you could get married at in south east London and what you need to know about them.
Woolwich Town Hall, Woolwich
With its opulent Victoria Hall dating back to 1906, Woolwich Town Hall offers the perfect backdrop for wedding photos, with its dramatic staircase and ornate walls and ceilings.
The Victoria Hall can accommodate seating for up to 120 guests and the happy couple can get married at the Greenwich Registry Office located within the town hall.
For smaller wedding parties or gatherings there is also the smaller Edwardian Room which can seat up to 36 guests.
Tudor Barn, Eltham
If you’re looking for an unusual wedding, Eltham’s Tudor Barn dates back to the 16th century and is surrounded by a mote and thirteen acres of parkland abundant with flowers in the spring and summer months.
But it’s not just us who think so, Tudor Barn was also one of the places named in the Hitched Awards 2024 as one of the best wedding venues in the UK, on account of its “romantic origin story” when the original building was given as a gift to Margret Moore from William Roper.
The barn can accommodate weddings of up to 200 people, or more bespoke for smaller gatherings for something more intimate.
Wedding guests will be given exclusive access to parts of the historic building including the Tudor Gallery, Gastro Pub. Front Lawn and Side Lawn.
The Painted Hall, Greenwich
Wedding guests looking to get married in a setting that looks like something from Beauty and the Beast should add The Painted Hall to their list.
Famously known as "Britain’s Sistine Chapel", this 18th century baroque structure has served as a backdrop for TV and film including Netflix’s The Crown and can also serve as the setting for a wedding.
The hall can accommodate parties of up to 400 guests with weddings taking place after 4:30pm, but couples should note that dancing isn’t allowed in the Painted Hall so the first dance will take place in the below Undercroft.
The Ranger’s House, Blackheath
Guests looking to have a Bridgerton-themed wedding should consider The Ranger’s House.
Located on the borders of Blackheath and Greenwich overlooking Greenwich Park, this historical Georgian Villa is most famously known for its role in the Netflix series serving as the London home of the Bridgerton family.
Weddings take place inside The Long Gallery with its bay windows and antique furnishings, which can accommodate up to 80 people in a ceremony.
